It sometimes looks as if we have to learn to live with the persistent problem of crime. Some parts of our cities continue to be seen as no-go areas.

Recently, I spoke to some Dubliners, who told me that it was not safe to walk at night beyond Upper O'Connell Street.

Barefaced, gang-inspired turf warfare leads to regular killings.
