Plight of pocket

• Martina Devlin (Opinion, July 13) offers scant refuge for James Reilly in his current 'plight-of-pocket', calling for an "immediate effect" declaration from the minister.

Dead right she is, too. Why should we have to endure the crass machinations of right-wing money speculators who have direct conflict-of-interest doubts hovering around their portfolio responsibilities?



Decency, humility, generosity of spirit, honourable demeanour, empathy and adroitness are qualities which are, very sadly, rarely in evidence within our parliamentary system.
