Planning sense goes down toilet
Sir --Waterways Ireland is meant to look after and manage our great wealth of inland waterways. But who keeps an eye on it? Ever since it was set up to suit the political tastes of the time, it has managed to make some ludicrous decisions.
The latest being to construct a toilet block opposite Castle Island at Lough Key, Boyle, Co Roscommon. This particular view is probably one of the most loved and photographed of the entire marvellous park. I can see it now, the Lord Mayor of Roscommon's grand opening of the Castle Island Toilet Block complete with plaque commemorating the occasion!
