Darkness into Light, the aptly named annual fundraising event in aid of the suicide prevention charity Pieta House, will take place on Saturday at 4.15am.

Suicide figures in our country are still too high. I suppose one is one too many, but almost 500 suicides a year is unacceptably tragic.

That figure I believe would be much higher but for the services provided by Pieta House and other organisations.
