Paying too high a price for feudal failures

•I find the passive, submissive behaviour of Irish citizens astonishing and frustrating in the extreme -- they can truly be described, and condemned, as the silent majority.

What catastrophe must befall this nation to the point where its citizens will be forced to awaken from their unnatural slumber and belatedly face the facts concerning the political system we suffer under in Ireland in 2011?

How many decades of political and economic failure must it take for the Irish citizens to become not only disillusioned with, but outright antagonistic towards, a political system which at best should be described as a 'feudal democracy' -- where the citizens can choose their feudal lord every five years or so but thereafter have no say whatsoever, even to the point where that feudal lord can decide to bankrupt this nation?
