Patriots don't need hypocrisy
Brian Caffrey has suggested that centenary celebrations in 2016 be put on ice until the Irish citizenry reach a state of full maturity (Letters, May 29).
I disagree, but suggest that an independent group be set up to organise the celebrations.
There should not be any member of any political party in the group, and they should be drawn from a cross-section of Irish people, at home and abroad. And the best method to commemorate this important event would be to have no speeches at the GPO in Dublin or anywhere the events of Easter 1916 are commemorated.
