Patients the real victims, not Harney

SINCE her return from New Zealand, Mary Harney has gone on the attack to defend herself from criticism regarding the failures in our healthcare system ('I'm a victim of unique Irish blame culture, says Harney,' Irish Independent, March 27).

The best that her spin doctors can muster this time is to claim that "only in Ireland" are ministers blamed when grave errors, of the magnitude that occurred at Tallaght hospital, are discovered.

It would be funny if it were not so serious.
