Parking cost is closing shops

Sir -- As a resident of Killiney, I am dependent on my private car for getting around because the public transport system here bears no comparison to that existing in Dublin city.
I no longer shop in Dun Laoghaire because of overpolicing by the county council's traffic corps and the high cost -- €2 per hour -- of on-street parking.
Instead I now shop in nearby Bray, in the Merrion Shopping Centre and in Cornelscourt. In these locations (all outside the Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council 'terror region') the parking charges are either very reasonable or completely free of charge. Is it any wonder that shops are closing down in Dun Laoghaire?
