Pakistan subject to pecking order

Maybe if one was hewn from stone, could the present destruction in Pakistan be viewed dispassionately.

But there seems to be a tardiness to respond to the tragedy -- both from governments and some NGOs, at variance with the fulsome response that usually follows such disasters. Perhaps it is a function of our straitened economies.

But I am wondering if this troubled area is widely viewed in the West as beyond redemption, cloyed down in a morass of jihadism and instability, and thus less worthy of help.
