Our leaders are blind to recovery

THE abrupt departure of George Lee from Fine Gael and Dail Eireann is extremely disappointing and must have far- reaching ramifications for that party's capacity to convince the electorate that it is fit to govern.

What does this incident also say about Fine Gael's capacity to recruit and retain talent and genius into its parliamentary party?

There has never been a time in the history of this State when high-level expertise, especially a competence in economics and communications, was more urgently needed in government and in the supporting apparatus of government.
