Open minds
•It is far easier to destroy reputations than to build them. The demolition job done on all psychics by Daire O'Brien is a case in point.
In an age of utter cynicism and denial, anyone who can deliver genuine hope and comfort should be cherished.
The test should be are they sincere, and do they speak with a true heart? There are charlatan's and frauds at large, as your correspondent Pat Walsh accepted.
But Mr Walsh was right to take M O'Brien to task for not being prepared to countenance that there are also people capable of communing with those whom have passed on to the next world.
Ireland has many sincere psychics who are wholly sincere in their beliefs. One such is Paddy McMahon whose book 'There are No Goodbyes' has been republished under the title 'Guided by Angels'.
Mr O'Brien might do well to familiarise himself with such works before dismissing all. This book has given solace to many who have suffered bereavements -- it is an invitation to open minds rather than close them.
