Number of TDs must be slashed

Possibly the best news I heard this week was Enda Kenny's promise that, if he becomes Taoiseach, he will hold a referendum and let the people decide if we should retain the Seanad.
While he is at it, he should ask the people if we really need 166 TDs. In fact, do we even need 100?
My rule of thumb is that the importance of one's job is how much you are missed when you are absent. For a group who seem to spend more time at funerals and out of the country on "fact-finding missions" than in the Dail chamber, I think it is a no-brainer.
