Nuclear power is the way forward

MESSRS Pidgeon and Regan would be unwise to put their trust in wind (Letters, April 22) to solve our energy problems.
If, as Mr Regan asserts, Ireland is one of the windiest parts of Europe, how is it that in recent weeks -- and indeed as I write -- it can manage to supply only 1 or 2pc of the total demand?
This is a most inefficient use of a resource that occupies over 20pc of our total generating capacity.
