North/South audit for Foras

Madam --The article written by Concubhar O Liathain (Sunday Independent, February 5, 2012), was quite seriously misleading on a number of points.
Firstly, the relevance of Foras na Gaeilge to the general thrust of his article is dubious. The vast majority of its board members were nominated by parties other than Sinn Fein and include nominees of all parties in government, North and South, and the long-established practice of the Foras na Gaeilge Board is that political affiliation or nomination is left outside the door at board meetings and a strict 'conflicts of interest' policy observed.
His assertion that Foras na Gaeilge "operates within a cloak of secrecy and doesn't appear to be accountable to the people" is groundless.
