No time for regret, let's stick together

Like most people, I have been busy preparing for all that the festive season brings. However, something lingers in my mind and is worth considering this Christmas.
This year was enormously difficult for many families. There has been much suffering as a result of the recession. There are families who are experiencing times they never imagined they would face. There is fear, anxiety and despondency. And for many there is the terrible experience of regret: regret for decisions made; roads chosen in the boom; regret at not stopping to think and regret at not seeing what many now say was inevitable.
It is truly terrible to feel regret, especially when the consequences of decisions made negatively affect those we dearly love. This Christmas there will be people who find the festive season intolerable, because they hold little hope for a productive future in this country and they wish they could turn back time. These times bear very heavily on men in particular, and often men find it enormously difficult to seek help.
