No nod and wink seen in Germany

I am responding to letters from your readers rightly praising the Germans for the way they rebuilt their nation after two world wars and suggesting we might learn from them.

The Irish work just as hard as any German but the main reason for their success is their political system and politicians.

The Germans have a list system, which means the party gets the votes and then it decides who gets appointed to the job. You could then appoint an economic wizard to the position of finance minister, a transport wizard to the transport portfolio, and so on.
