No excuse for animal testing
There is no excuse for the deliberate torture of animals in this age of highly advanced computer simulation techniques, and alternatives to live animal experimentation such as the use of cell and tissue cultures in laboratories.
It is a sad comment on our lack of civilised values and simple humanity that we continue to allow this horrific abuse of sentient beings.
Animals have greatly facilitated the human race for thousands of years.
They have served and died beside humans on the battlefield. As pets they have enriched the lives of people young and old. They have sniffed out harmful drugs and rescued people from burning buildings. They have served as eyes for the blind. And how have we thanked them? By turning their short, humble, inoffensive lives into a hell on earth.
The sacred scripture of Christianity tells us that mankind is just a little lower than the angels... and lower than man are the animals and the birds. Sometimes I wonder about that.
