Narrow morality is not for all

Liam O hAlmhain attacks John Gormley and the Green Party for defending the civil partnership legislation against the bishops (Letters, June 21).
Mr O hAlmhain surely must recognise that while he desires bishops to be able to tell their "own flock" what they can and cannot do, the Oireachtas makes legislation for ALL the people.
So while Mr O hAlmhain is free to follow the bishops' instructions on contraception, sex before marriage, what days he can or cannot take a drink, what schools he must send his children to, and with whom he can and cannot have a loving relationship, he and the bishops are not free to dictate laws that try to force their narrow view of morality on those of us who have long since left that flock.
