Nama shrouded in mystery

Published 26/02/2012 | 05:00

Madam -- There is something about Nama. I feel it in my bones. Another quango set up to benefit the lawyers, accountants, bankers, advisers, PR people and others to continue the neverending gravy train, and to bleed the public once more. There is a lack of accountability on the part of Nama with inflated salaries, expenses, together with privileges being the order of the day. Bankrupted builders and property developers whose companies were taken over by Nama are now paid €200,000 by Nama for their services. Nama is shrouded in mystery. We were led to believe that its function was to assist with job creation, enforcement and debt recovery. To date it has failed to deliver. It costs €1m a day to run. This is a scandalous situation and should be investigated. It is truly shocking that the taxpayers are left voiceless, and are kept in the dark about the happenings inside the state's toxic loans agency.

P.S. The journalists who wrote about Nama in the Sunday Independent were absolutely brilliant. Keep up the good work of informing the public.
