Ministers display real hypocrisy

SAM Smyth's article on the 'embarrassment' of members of the Government because of the Callely affair shows that Callely is an easy scapegoat (Irish Independent, August 7).

Holding him up to ridicule, however, distracts attention from the decisions of the small number of much more powerful people who nearly bankrupted the country.

Day after day, these prominent government spokespersons are paraded in the public media and allowed to sound high-minded on the issue of Callely's expenses.
