Minister shirks duty over burqas

I fully agree with Martina Devlin ('We're shirking our duty if we don't ban the burqa', Irish Independent, January 28).
The Wexford school incident was a defining moment to set the matter straight regarding the wearing of the veils. Education Minister Batt O'Keeffe failed to set the agenda as he did not wish to "offend" Muslims.
This is not about offence or political correctness or being right-wing. It is right that we set out what is fair and equitable.
