Medical card for Health Minister

A FRIEND of mine was recently diagnosed with cancer and is being treated in a Dublin hospital where, along with other patients, she has had to endure weeks of waiting on a bed between procedures.

The awful stress of discovering you have cancer and having your world completely turned upside down is terrible enough on its own; but having to worry endlessly as the waiting time for a bed becomes longer and longer is just not acceptable.

I would like to suggest that after the next election it should be made mandatory that the Health Minister should be made to either have a medical card or no private health insurance so that, whoever they are, they will experience the true and utterly awful state of the health service in this country.
