Media can help to change system
For years our tiny economy has been milked, burdened, bled and finally drained of its scant resources by the political establishment and their cronies in the higher echelons of the public service.
The national debate now seems to have shifted to the kind of Ireland we fervently wish to reinvent for ourselves, and rightly so. However, similar to the way in which the banks are still largely being run by the very people who destroyed them, are we to believe that the current political system and its beneficiaries -- including the opposition who consistently clamoured for more spending -- are, like turkeys, about to vote for Christmas, ie radical change?
They will, only if subjected to intense and unrelenting pressure from the media.
