The euro must survive and thrive for the benefit of everybody in Europe but most particularly for those at the centre -- the German people.

The German hatred of inflation is justified. Mark Twain memorably mentioned that while history does not repeat itself, it does rhyme. Germany retains a fear of inflationary-inspired instability.
