MacSwiney did not respect life

I wish to support Kevin Myers's suggestion that Cork Airport should be named after a person who advanced the welfare of the Irish people (Irish Independent, August 10).

Economic prosperity and welfare is correlated to a culture of love that fosters human development and co-operation.

Terence MacSwiney did not respect his own life and it seems to be part of the culture as his sister Mary MacSwiney in the Treaty debates showed little regard for human life with the following quote:
