Looking forward to Queen Kate of Ireland

I must commend Tom Cooper for not ruling out the possibility that William and Kate might one day become the king and queen of Ireland (Letters, April 27).
Imagine the lift it would give our downtrodden population if we replace the 1916 centenary celebrations, which will commemorate the birth of 100 years of intermittent recessions, with the pomp of a royal coronation.
Think of the apoplectic rage in Westminster as the British royal family is downgraded to the status of AA-.
