Libertas guilty of EU scare tactics

Tuesday May 19 2009

The politics of Libertas is always couched in absolute negativity. Libertas paints a vision of fear at every turn.

Libertas is not a pro-European party. Declan Ganley has described the CAP as a weapon of mass destruction. Farmers must be very weary of this man. He does not have their interests at heart. Libertas wants to bring in a system whereby, for example, if someone from the Republic of Ireland wanted to travel to Northern Ireland, then they would have to apply for a blue card for entry. Such a regressive system flies in the face of the spirit and terms of the European co-operation and the Good Friday peace agreement.

Has Libertas told all its candidates in Poland that Libertas wants to bar them from coming to Ireland in the future?

Raymond O'Malley says that Libertas would go to Brussels and lobby for funds for a jobs plan. Why would the EU give us one penny if Ireland still opposes the Lisbon Treaty? The EU is still based on the principle of solidarity after all. The reality is that Libertas has more money than sense. No-one knows what its candidates stand for because they themselves do not know what they stand for. They are all over the place. A vote for Libertas is a vote against Europe. Today, Ireland needs Europe more than ever before.
