Letters to the Editor: Youths letting themselves down by cursing

* As someone who has recently celebrated his 68th birthday, I will no doubt be regarded by our younger generation as already having at least one foot in the grave, and probably a lot of other things as well.

However, before I shuffle off this planet, I feel I have a duty to register my total disgust and abhorrence at the amount of swearing one hears and sees all around us nowadays in public places, especially from our youth.

It saddens me that so many young people seem to regard loud swearing as wholly acceptable, and almost as some sort of rite of passage, which they need to repeat over and over again, simply to look cool to their peers.
