Letters: Nigella stories set wrong tone
Madam -- Now that much of the hysteria surrounding Nigella Lawson's drug-taking has subsided, I feel it is time to offer a rational response to some of the comments made about this in the Sunday Independent in recent weeks.
Both Barry Egan and Ruth Dudley Edwards would appear to be taking a very lenient view on Nigella Lawson's open admission under oath in court that she was in possession of a class A drug for personal use.
I feel this does a great disservice to your readership, this is not the tone that should be set or the attitude that should be adopted when dealing with celebrity drug addiction problems. We live in the age of cult celebrity, our young people follow their every word and copy their example.
