Letter to Kenny

•Dear Taoiseach Enda Kenny, I'm writing to let you know that I find your illegal breach of the salary ceiling despicable and inexcusable. Your subsequent 'explanation' -- "I might be doing something illegal but at least it's not as bad as what them FF boys got up to" -- was pathetic and hurtful.

  • Go To

I am just one of many Irish people working my fingers to the bone for no recompense these days. I earn about €5 per hour and try to keep my restaurant open for two simple reasons: 1. To keep our staff off the dole in order to help the economy. 2. To keep a roof over our heads, as we live in the rudimentary staff quarters.

The thought that your employees could not survive on €92,000 a year is implausible to someone like me. I'm sure they only work half the hours I do. How big a house do they need? How many clothes can they wear? How much food can they eat?
