Lesson for all

•Anthony Wood's excellent letter on the two-tier nepotistic Ireland brought to mind a very important lesson I learnt on arriving in Australia.
I was surprised at the Australian 'give it a go' attitude that went much against the 'you an yer big ideas' Irish one I was used to.
You didn't have to be brilliant immediately -- you simply had to start. Everyone starts somewhere. And why not? If you fail, well then you know it's not for you.
