Lenihan is not answer to economy’s ills

BEFORE we get too excited about the prospect of the disarmingly modest Brian Lenihan becoming Taoiseach, let us not forget that he believes Anglo Irish Bank is of systemic importance to our economy, and he is putting staggering amounts of our money and our children's money where his mouth is.
The most respected economists in this country say that he is egregiously mistaken.
Moreover, for all his supposed decency, Mr Lenihan chooses not to reveal how a tin-pot, branchless, builders’ bank – as it seems to the rest of us – could possibly be of systemic importance.
