Leave weekend pay of lowest earners alone

I did not vote for this coalition so that it could shaft the lowest-paid workers in this country.

The vast majority of us enjoy our weekends off. Perhaps we might go for a meal or a drink or to the cinema on a Saturday or Sunday. But someone has to be there to provide those services. We should be prepared to pay those people adequately for working those unsocial hours. But instead we are arguing about the economic justification of cutting time and a half or double time for Sundays for the lowest-paid workers in the State.

One-and-a-half times or double the minimum wage, for giving up their weekend! And now someone wants to cut it. It is appalling anyone would even have this idea in the first place.
