Lead by example and cut from top

How considerate of the Government to soften the blow of pay cuts for some of the most senior civil servants, who are currently earning up to €146,000 per annum.

They are now taking less of a percentage pay cut to basic salary than a low-paid public servant earning less than €30,000 per annum.

Contrast this with the Government's out-of-hand rejection of the proposal to assist the lowest-paid public servants through tax credits.
