Kestrel a gem of Mother Nature

Sir -- I refer to Joe Kennedy's beautifully written article on the most iconic of birds, the kestrel (Sunday Independent, June 26, 2011). The article informs me that this unique hunting technique (hover, descend, hover again, descend further) is extremely productive -- Joe states that it "bags" at least 20 live meals a day. The sight of this creature brings home everything that is good about Mother Nature -- guile, persistence, agility and beauty. I once had the good fortune of saving an injured and malnourished bird -- a small project I still feel proud of.
