I saw Mary Hanafin on TV, getting in on the act at the presentation of the trophy to Ross Fisher, the winner of the Irish Open in Killarney.
There she was, standing around like it was herself in whose gift it is to give us golfing pleasure.
These lame-duck politicians by their presence at events serve only to spoil the rare enjoyment we get to applaud in these days of economic crisis for which the politicians are ultimately to blame.
