Keane to rescue

•Daniel McDonnell's argument about American soccer is perplexing at best. Sure, it isn't our most popular pastime, but to say that Robbie Keane is going to an American club "who operate in a universe where football is nothing" is downright reprehensible.
We aren't expecting Keane to be a saviour for American soccer -- we already tried that with David Beckham -- the beautiful game is growing as organically as peat in a bog.
Young people are taking up the sport in droves, following the US national team (men's and women's). In addition, our melting pot of cultures only gives room for the game to grow.
