Section 17 of the Offences Against the State Act 1939 makes it a criminal offence to be present at the administering of an oath which results in the concealment of the commission of any crime.

I doubt if Cardinal Sean Brady will be placed in handcuffs because of his actions 35 years ago but justice should be applied to all people regardless of their title. If he was arrested his public admission that he was present when the oath was taken should at least ensure a quick trial for him.
