Jobless hitting those brick walls

Sir -- In response to Brian Cooper's letter last week, it annoys me so much when unemployed people are categorised so much as spongers. My husband had worked solidly for 20-plus years to find himself dismissed from his job 18 months ago.
It has taken up to now to get a date for his tribunal hearing. He could turn his hand to anything. He's a proud man. There are many more like him -- this has taken away his dignity. He is entitled to the meagre €151 a week dole. He paid tax all his working life. He is willing, but meets brick walls everywhere.
