Jedward's fame comes at a price
Friday November 13 2009
In response to Jacqueline Cotter who wanted to reassure me that Jedward would go on to have a lucrative career after 'The X Factor' (Letters, November 11), I was well aware of that fact.
Instead, I was talking about the psychological damage they would suffer from this rollercoaster of love and hate.
One minute out to perform on a high, next booed off the stage, then off to see the shrink to get them through the next stage. Bullying is bullying, no matter what form it takes, and no matter how rich they may become in the future, psychological damage has probably already been done.
'The X Factor' was once a great family show, but I, for one, did not enjoy the treatment these lads got from the audience while the judges stayed silent.
Money or no money, these boys will have psychological problems for a long time.
No show or degree of fame is worth this.
