It's arrogant to believe we're in exclusive possession of the truth

I find the recent exchanges about the merits of the various stances on the question of God have brought an excess of heat to aspects of our lives where there is a real need for light.

There is a variety of fronts where mutual antipathy is regularly stoked by well-meaning assertions of loyalty to one position or another.

The main protagonists tend to be religious believers of various denominations, secularists with differing emphases, and defenders of varying shades of atheism.
