It is easy to speak from private bed

Sir -- It has been well documented that thousands of people are surrendering private healthcare insurance due to increasing premiums. While health insurance is not essential to access a consultant, those in the public system can be left waiting months or years for specialist assessment and treatment. In addition, the impact of spending cuts forecast for this year alone will inevitably strain an already over-stretched healthcare system.
While Ms O'Kelly acknowledges the fortitude and sacrifices required to attain consultant level, it is easy to dish out accolades when tucked up in a Mater Private bed. I wonder what her opinion would be had she been treated (eventually) on a public basis.
