Israel should pay for Gaza siege

Joe Briscoe's comments on what he describes as "the present impasse between Israel and Gaza" (Letters, January 2), completely ignores the continuing inhumane and illegal Israeli siege and the devastating effect it is having on the civilian population in Gaza.

The everyday reality of life in Gaza because of this barbaric siege is that people are dying and will continue to die of treatable illness and disease as a result of a lack of adequate medical supplies and medical care.

Earlier this year, the World Health Organisation (WHO) said that more than 10pc of children were suffering from chronic malnutrition.
