Is State afraid of criminal thugs?

Sir -- Eamon Dunne, 'The Don', swaggered around our city carrying out serious crimes at will and unhindered, even though he was awaiting court appearances for other serious crimes going back to 2003 but, lo and behold, all of these charges were brought to court within two weeks of his demise. Coincidence or what?

Only two cases out of hundreds where these criminals are seemingly allowed to go about their sordid business with the blessing of the State. The questions must be asked: why?

Are our politicians or legislators under some kind of threat? Are they scared of these thugs?
