Ironman Duffy gets my vote for President

HUGE congratulations to Mullingar man Gerry Duffy on winning the UK Deca Ironman Challenge on Sunday after swimming 24 miles, cycling 1,120 miles and running 262 miles against the best endurance athletes over 10 days in the south of England.

Having jointly raised more than €500,000 for autism with Ken Whitelaw less than 12 months ago, running 32 marathons in 32 days, this will be another massive boost for the charity.

What a role model he is. He epitomises everything that this country needs in the months and years ahead: self-belief, persistence, hard work, honesty, incredible endurance and consideration for those less fortunate without seeking or receiving anything in return. Gerry for the Park!
