Irish fail to show spirit of Christmas

The spirit of Christmas is alive and well and living in our city, but I am disappointed to say it was not dished out by one of our own.

On Monday night last, my daughter had her wallet stolen in town. She was left without money and her Luas monthly ticket, which in effect meant she had no way of getting home. A friend loaned her €20 for a taxi but she knew the fare would be more than that.

She approached a number of taxi drivers, all Irish, explained what had happened and asked could they take her home for that amount but they all refused.
