On a recent trip to Ireland with my daughter that dynamic was played out from the moment of our gracious welcome at Highfield House B&B in Trim, Co Meath and all through our two-week travels from the south to the north of Ireland.

On St Patrick's Day, while we were at lunch awaiting the start of Trim's parade, four Galway women at an adjoining table invited us to join them that evening to watch 'The Quiet Man' movie in the Old Rectory owned by Martina Quinn, a Galway transplant.
