Integrated ticket issue rambles on

P MCCORMACK (Letters, August 21) scores a bullseye when pointing towards Tyne & Wear in northern England as one example of a long-standing functional integrated public transport operation.
It's beyond any rational explanation that whilst we sit surrounded by such examples of public transport functionality throughout the UK, Europe and the rest of the developed world, we persist with a notion that we are somehow "different".
When will the €36m already spent -- and the projected additional €14m yet to be drawn down -- actually result in a functional example of an integrated ticket?
