Innocent bygone days

Madam – With all the charges being brought by people at the moment against their partners having affairs etc, it brings happy memories of a story told to me by my late dad about a funny incident that happened to him many years ago in innocent times.

My dad made his way each morning to check on cattle two miles from the home place on a holding of land that belonged to my mother.

A house on the land was occupied by tenants, a family of a husband, wife and two little kids – a girl about five and a little boy around three years old. The husband spent most of the year in England and he sent money home.
