In wrong spirit

• I'd like to respond to the article 'Spirituality can really blow your mind', say doctors in Wednesday's paper. I have never seen such a ridiculous conclusion as in this article.
While the article is filled with statistics purporting to explain that spiritual people suffer from more mental health difficulties than the general population, the quoted conclusion takes the biscuit: "We conclude that there is increasing evidence that people who profess spiritual beliefs in the absence of a religious framework are more vulnerable to mental disorder."
I wonder if it ever occurred to the authors of this report that people who have mental health difficulties may be more inclined to seek out spiritual solutions to their problems rather than the other way round?
